Harold Babb
Harold Wesley Babb was born June 23, 1895, in Carlingford, Perth County, Ontario, to Edgar and Jean Babb. He later in life moved to Munson, Alberta where he worked as a machinist until enlistment.
Harold signed his attestation papers in Munson, Alberta, on 28 April,1916, enlisting as a Private in the 175th (Medicine Hat) Battalion CEF. With this unit he embarked Halifax on the RMS Saxonia on October 4, 1916, arrived in England nine days later.
On January 10, 1917, the 175th Battalion was absorbed into the 21st Reserve Battalion in Seaford. On February 26, 1917, Private Babb transferred to the 50th Canadian Infantry Battalion (Calgary) CEF overseas in France. While participating in operations at Vimy Ridge with his unit, he was reported missing and presumed dead on or since April 10, 1917.
A British War Medal was presented to the Babb family for his sacrifice.
